Data protection & your rights
How we protect your data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, and how to use your rights. For what we collect and why, see our Privacy policy.
Our commitments
- We only collect what we need to run KICK IT, and only use it for that.
- Only named KICK IT team members can see the data, through a staff login.
- Passwords are stored as secure hashes, never in plain text. The live site runs over HTTPS only.
- We hold no bank or card details. Online payments, for donations and raffle tickets, are handled entirely on Flutterwave's secure page.
- We don't sell data or use it for advertising.
Protecting children
- A parent or guardian must register any player under 18 and give consent.
- A child's public profile is shown only with that consent, and their photo only with separate photo consent.
- Dates of birth, guardian contacts and team notes are never published.
- Agent pages never list the children an agent represents, and agents and scouts never receive children's contact details.
- Player pages are kept out of search engines.
- Consent can be withdrawn at any time, and the profile comes down at once.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what data we hold about you, and give you a copy of it.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete your data, or your child's.
- Stop or limit how we use it, or withdraw consent, for example taking down a directory profile.
- Move your data: we can send it in a common format.
How to make a request
Message us on WhatsApp or email us (details below) with your name, the phone number or email you used, and what you'd like us to do. For a child's data, tell us you're their parent or guardian. We may call to confirm it's you before acting. We'll respond within [30 days], and usually much sooner.
If something goes wrong
If we discover a breach that's likely to put your rights at risk, we'll tell the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) within 72 hours, as the law requires, and we'll tell you if you're affected.
Complaints
Please talk to us first so we can put things right. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) at any time.
